TheBravado Brotherswere an Americanprofessional wrestlingtag teamconsisting of real-life brothersHarlem Bravado(born Chance Barrow on April 22, 1989) andLancelot Bravado(born Houston Barrow on September 16, 1985).[3]The duo have worked for severalindependentpromotions,includingRing of Honor,Chikara,andFull Impact Pro,and have also appeared in Japan forPro Wrestling Noah.

In 2017, Houston retired from wrestling while Chance continued to wrestle on the independent circuit, mainly forEvolve Wrestling.In February 2021, Chance signed withWWE,[4]and currently wrestles onNXTunder the ring name Andre Chase.

Professional wrestling career

Ring of Honor (2008–2012)

The Bravado Brothers ofHarlem Bravado(Chance Barrow, born 1989) andLancelot Bravado(Houston Barrow, born 1985) trained atRing of Honor(ROH)'sWrestling Academyunder the tutelage ofDeliriousin 2008.[1][2][3][5][6]

The duo debuted for ROH in September 2009, and over the next several months they competed indark matches,facing wrestlers includingTony KozinaandAnthony Nese.[3]Their first match as part of the main roster was at the8th Anniversary Show,where they were defeated byThe Kings of Wrestling(Chris HeroandClaudio Castagnoli). They entered theTag Wars 2010 tournament,reaching the semi-finals before losing to the Dark City Fight Club ofKory ChavisandJon Davis.Following losses to teams including Future Shock (Adam ColeandKyle O'Reilly) and Grizzly Redwood and Andy Ridge, they developed a winning streak beginning in January 2011, which lasted until they were beaten by Future Shock atSupercard of Honor VIon May 21. AtTag Team Turmoil 2011,the Bravados entered the tournament to determine the next challengers to theROH World Tag Team Championship.They defeated theBriscoe Brothers(Jay and Mark Briscoe), but lost to Future Shock in the final.[7]On September 17, the Bravado Brothers appeared on their first ROHpay-per-viewDeath Before Dishonor IX,when they were part of athree-way elimination matchagainstThe Young Bucksand Future Shock; the Bravados were the first team eliminated.[8]In November, the duo lost to the Briscoe Brothers in a qualifying match for theSurvival of the Fittest tournament.[7]At theFinal Battle 2011pay-per-view, the Bravado Brothers were part of a tag team gauntlet match to determine the number one contenders to the ROH World Tag Team Championship, but were the first team eliminated byCaprice ColemanandCedric Alexander.[9]

Following a tour of Japan, the Bravado Brothers returned to ROH atUnityin April 2012, defeating The Young Bucks. The following month, the pair challengedWrestling's Greatest Tag Team(Shelton BenjaminandCharlie Haas) for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. They won the match bydisqualification,and so did not win the championship.[7]They competed only sporadically for ROH throughout mid-2012, including a loss to Coleman and Alexander atGlory By Honor XI,which was their last ROH appearance.[10]

Independent promotions (2011–2017)

On November 12, 2011, they debuted forChikara,losing to3.0(Scott Parker and Shane Matthews).[11]Throughout 2012, they made sporadic appearances for the promotion, including participating in the 2012torneo ciberneticoon November 18, as part of TeamKevin Steen.[11]On May 18, 2013, the Bravados returned to take part in the2013 Tag World Grand Prix,but were eliminated in the first round byThe Batiri(Kodama and Obariyon).[11]

In 2013, the duo began working for theEvolvepromotion. On May 30, they defeated Maxwell Chicago and Sugar Dunkerton atEvolve 20and the following day atEvovle 21,they defeated Derek Ryze and Andrew Everett.[12][13]On June 2, atEvolve 22,they teamed with Everett in a loss to Dos Ben Dejos andShane Strickland.[14]

In 2013, the Bravados also began working forFull Impact Pro(FIP). They debuted atAscensionin April, where they defeatedTommy TaylorandKenneth Cameron,before attacking theFIP Tag Team ChampionsDos Ben Dejos.[15]On July 5, at the Declaration of Independence internet pay-per-view, the Bravado Brothers won athree-way matchagainst Dos Ben Dejos and KOA (Sugar Dunkerton and Aaron Epic) to win theFIP Tag Team Championship.[16]On November 16, the Bravado Brothers defeated The Young Bucks to winDragon Gate USA'sOpen the United Gate Championship.[17]On December 6, they lost the FIP Tag Team Championship toRich SwannandRoderick Strong.[18]On September 14, 2014, at Evolve 35, The Bravado Brothers lost the Open the United Gate Championship toAnthony Neseand Caleb Konley in a three-way match, also involvingA. R. Foxand Rich Swann.[19]In 2017, Lance Bravado retired from wrestling thus disbanding the team. Harlem Bravado continued to wrestle on the independent circuit mainly forEvolve Wrestlingbefore he signed withWWEin 2021.[4]

Pro Wrestling Noah (2012–2013)

In January 2012 the Bravado Brothers moved to Japan for three months to train with and compete forPro Wrestling Noah.[20]Lance's first match in Japan was againstYoshinobu Kanemaruin Korakuen Hall.[21]While at Noah, the pair mostly competed in singles matches, but also teamed up sporadically. They returned to Noah in January 2013.[22]

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2016)

In December 2016, the Bravado Brothers appeared in the specialImpact Wrestlingepisode "Total Nonstop Deletion"as entrants in the Tag Team Apocalypto for theTNA Tag Team Championship.

Outside of professional wrestling

In 2018, Houston Barrow (Lancelot Bravado) was theLibertariancandidate for the District 65 seat in theNorth Carolina House of Representatives.[23]He placed third in thegeneral electionwith 2,220 votes (7.74%), as the seat was held by theRepublican Party,withJerry Carterthe overall winner.[24]
