History and profile

Lapin Kansawas established in 1928.[2][3]The newspaper is based inRovaniemi.[4]The owner of the paper isAlma Media.[4][5]In June 2013 Kaleva publishing house began to publish the daily together with the group's other newspaperPohjolan Sanomat.[5]

Heikki Tuomi-Nikula is among the formereditors-in-chiefof the paper.[4]On 1 October 2008 Johanna Korhonen was appointed the editor-in-chief.[4][6]However, she was fired immediately after her appointment due to the fact that she was alesbian.[4][7]Antti Kokkonen replaced her in the post.

In January 2011 the daily changed its format frombroadsheetto tabloid.[8]Since 2011Lapin Kansahas published news and reports in bothNorth Sami languageandFinnish.[9]

In 2013Lapin Kansahad a circulation of 28,992 copies.[10]
