Laurence Rosenthal(born November 4, 1926) is an American composer, arranger, and conductor for theater, television, film, and the concert hall.[1]
Biography
[edit]Born inDetroit,Michigan,Rosenthal attended theEastman School of MusicinRochester,New York,where he studiedpianoandcomposition.He then studied inPariswithNadia Boulanger.[2]Among his best-known film scores areA Raisin in the Sun,The Miracle Worker,Becket,The Island of Dr. Moreau,Clash of the Titans,The Return of a Man Called HorseandMeetings with Remarkable Men.[3]
Rosenthal'sBroadwayarranging credits includeThe Music ManandDonnybrook!.He composed forSherry!,A Patriot for MeandTake Me Along(dance music only).[4]
His daughter is the distinguished stem-cell scientistNadia Rosenthal.
