TheLebanon Expresswas a weeklynewspaperinLebanon,Oregon.It was owned byLee Enterprises.[1]The paper ceased publication in January 2023.[3]

History

TheLebanon Expresswas first published by Jacob H. Stine on March 5, 1887. Stine left the paper after a year. In 1987, Hugh Yandel Kirkpatrick merged theLebanon Expresswith theLebanon Advanceto formLebanon Express-Advance.The name was changed back to theLebanon Expressin 1912.[4]

Robert Hayden owned theLebanon Expressfor 34 years until selling it in 1970 to the Democrat-Herald Publishing Co.[5]Capital Citiespurchased the company in 1980,[6]which itself was acquired by theThe Walt Disney Companyin 1995.[7]Disney sold its Oregon newspapers toLee Enterprisesin 1997.[8]

The paper published its final edition on Jan. 18, 2023 and rolled coverage of the area into TheAlbany Democrat-Herald.[9][3]
