This page contains thelists ofairportsinEuropeby country, grouped by region. The lists include bothmilitary air basesand civilian airports.

Countries without airports[edit]

The fiveEuropean microstateshave no airport within their boundaries, though San Marino does have a smallairfieldwith a grass runway. Each has at least oneheliportand all except Monaco arelandlocked.The only heliport to have a Schengen border control is in Monaco. For Liechtenstein, San Marino and Vatican City only flights inside theSchengen Areaare allowed, due to a lack of border controls. Andorra is more unregulated.

Andorra[edit]

Andorrahas no airports for fixed-wing aircraft,[1]but it hasAndorra la Vella Heliportin the capital city ofAndorra la Vella,as well as heliports inLa MassanaandArinsal.The nearest airport isLa Seu d'Urgell Airportin Spain, 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) south of the Andorran border, currently used forgeneral aviation,but intended to be developed as a commercial airport, although the short runway limits it to small aircraft.[2]The nearest airports with scheduled commercial service areCarcassonne AirportandPerpignan-Rivesaltes Airportin France, andLleida-Alguaire Airportin Spain. The nearest major airports areBarcelona-El Prat AirportandGirona-Costa Brava Airportin Spain, andToulouse-Blagnac Airportin France, which all have transfers to Andorra by bus.[3][4]All these airports except La Seu d'Urgell need around three hours to reach by car.

Liechtenstein[edit]

Liechtensteindoes not have an airport, but does have a heliport in the southern town ofBalzers.[5][6]The nearest international airports areSt. Gallen-Altenrhein Airportin Switzerland andFriedrichshafen Airportin Germany, which have few scheduled flights. The nearest major airport isZurich Airportin Switzerland, which has rail service toBuchsandSargans.[7]From these towns, it is possible to catch a Postal Bus[7]or a train to Liechtenstein.

Monaco[edit]

Monacohas no airports, but does haveMonaco Heliportin the Monégasque district ofFontvieille.[8]The nearest airport isNice Côte d'Azur Airportin France.[9]The heliport has a Schengen border control, so it is possible to fly from e.g. London or Tunis, although this will take a few hours, and few helicopters have such range.[10]

San Marino[edit]

San Marinodoes not have a commercial airport,[11]but does have a smallairfieldinTorracciawith a 680-metre (2,230-foot) grassrunwayowned by the AeroClub San Marino.[12]There is also a heliport inBorgo Maggiore.The nearest airport isRimini'sFederico Fellini Airportin Italy, with transfers available by bus to San Marino.

Vatican City[edit]

Vatican Cityhas no airport and is too small to contain one; theHoly Seehas a land area of 0.44 km2(0.17 sq mi), and a maximum width of 900 m (3,000 ft).[13]However, it does haveVatican City Heliportin the western corner, which is used for visiting heads and officials of thecity-state.[14]The nearest airport isRome Ciampino Airportin Italy.
