Loloruis apyroclastic shieldvolcanolocated in the southern region ofBougainville Island,within theAutonomous Region of Bougainvilleof northeasternPapua New Guinea.

The volcano's summit consists of two nestedcalderas,with anandesiticlava dome.

Lake Loloru

Lake Loloru is acrescent-shapedvolcanic crater lakecovering 0.9 km2(0.35 sq mi) within the volcanocaldera.It is a sacred place of South Bougainvillians, who traditionally believe the souls of their dead go here upon death.
