Loloruis apyroclastic shieldvolcanolocated in the southern region ofBougainville Island,within theAutonomous Region of Bougainvilleof northeasternPapua New Guinea.
The volcano's summit consists of two nestedcalderas,with anandesiticlava dome.
Lake Loloru
[edit]Lake Loloru is acrescent-shapedvolcanic crater lakecovering 0.9 km2(0.35 sq mi) within the volcanocaldera.It is a sacred place of South Bougainvillians, who traditionally believe the souls of their dead go here upon death.
