Louis Tsatoumas(Greek:Λούης Τσάτουμας,born 12 February 1982) is a Greeklong jumper.[1]
Biography
[edit]He won his first major senior medal in 2007 at theEuropean Indoor Athletics Championships,where he claimed thesilver medalending in secoond place after the Italian record-breakingAndrew Howe.On 2 June 2007 inKalamataTsatoumas jumped 8.66metres, achieving a personal best and aGreek recordfor the event. The performance was the best in the world sinceIván Pedrosoleaped 8.70m to win the gold medal at the1995 World Championships.Tsatoumas ranks as the eighth best long jumper in history and holds theEuropean recordin the event at low altitude.[2]
At the2008 Olympicshe had the longest qualifying jump with 8.27m, but after three consecutive fouls in the final he finished in last place. He was thebronze medallistat both the2009 Mediterranean Gamesand2009 European Team Championships.[3]He represented Greece at the2009 World Championships in Athletics,reaching the final round, but finished only eleventh overall. At the2010 European Athletics Championshipshe was sixth.[1][2]
In 2014 Tsatoumas set aGreek indoor recordof 8.23m to win the national indoor title.
