Lycia Naff(born August 29, 1962) is an American dancer, actress, and journalist. She is best known as an actress for a two-episode role as Ensign Sonya Gomez onStar Trek: The Next Generationand for an appearance as a three-breasted prostitute inTotal Recall.Her journalism career includes early work on theBill Cosby sexual assault casesstory in 2014 with her interview of actress andrape survivorBarbara Bowman.[1][2]

Acting

Her acting career began as a dancer in the 1982 television seriesFame.She appeared as a prostitute named Dixie in the 1987 filmLethal Weaponand as TC inTroma's 1989Chopper Chicks in Zombietown.[1]In 1989 she appeared as EnsignSonya Gomezon two episodes ofStar Trek: The Next Generationin 1989, a role she would return to in 2021 to voice Captain Sonya Gomez on the animated seriesStar Trek: Lower Decks.[1][3]

Her small role as Mary, atriple-breastedmutant prostitute inPaul Verhoeven's 1990 motion pictureTotal Recallgained her immediate fame and interview requests from evenJohnny Carsonto appear onhis show,all of which she turned down, only to later regret having done so.[4][5]Afterwards, she earned aDaytime Emmynomination for her part in the 1990ABC Afterschool SpecialThe Perfect Date.[4]

In 2007 she guest starred inWithout A Trace.She also appeared in recurring episodes ofSt. Elsewhere,Hunter,General HospitalandThe Young and the Restless.[6][7]

Journalism

As her acting career took a downturn in the mid 1990s, she went to study journalism atFlorida Atlantic University,graduating from thenPalm Beach Atlantic College.She has since worked as a reporter for publications likeThe Palm Beach Post,Sun Sentinel,The Miami Herald,andPeople.[8][4]

In 2014, Naff interviewed the first ofBill Cosby's rape victimsand survivors, actress Barbara Bowman.[1][2]
