Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991is the sixth studio album by AmericanSouthern rockbandLynyrd Skynyrd.It was the band's first new studio album since 1977'sStreet Survivorsand the first following a1977 plane crashthat claimed the lives of three members of the band.

Lead vocalistRonnie Van Zantand lead guitaristSteve Gainesdied in a1977 plane crash in Mississippi,andLynyrd Skynyrd 1991is the first album to feature their replacements, lead vocalistJohnny Van Zant(Ronnie's younger brother) and guitarist Randall Hall. It also marks the return of original guitaristEd King,who parted ways with the band while touring in support ofNuthin' Fancyin 1975. It was also the final Lynyrd Skynyrd album to feature drummerArtimus Pyle,who survived the crash. Guitarist and founding memberAllen Collinsalso survived the 1977 plane crash but died in 1990 from chronicpneumonia.
"Smokestack Lightning" was released as a single with an accompanying music video and was met with moderate success.
