Hatanaka dedicated the movie toDoris Wishman,who directed 1960s sexploitation films such asDiary of a Nudist,Behind the Nudist CurtainandBad Girls Go to Hell,and actorJohn Cassavetes.[2]Mad Cowgirlofficially was selected to the SF Indiefest and theSilverlake Film Festival,[3]followed by a limited release in major cities such asNew York CityandSeattle.Mad Cowgirlwas released onDVDon December 5, 2006.[citation needed]

Plot

The central character inMad Cowgirlis Therese, a meat inspector who is dying of a brain disorder. The film follows Therese on her surreal descent into violence, in which men in her life become theTen Tigers of Cantonthat she must kill in order to become a better woman.

Victims of Therese's violent surreal madness include her meatpacking brother Thierry, naughty Pastor Dylan, and aSri Lankandoctor.
