The weather throughouthe year fluctuates greatly, with the dry season being oppressively hot and humid and the wet season being hot and partially cloudy.[1][2]

History

It is one of the sixteen LGAs that constitute theBorno Emirate,atraditional statelocated in Borno State, Nigeria.[4]

Insurgency cases

On 2 February 2015, theNigerian Armysaid it had recaptured Mafa fromBoko Haram,along with the nearby towns ofGamboru,Abadam,Mallam Fatori, andMarte,following joint military operations by Nigerian and Cameroonian forces, civilian forces, and three days ofChadianairstrikes.[5]
