Marcílio Dias, Porto Alegre
Marcílio Diasis aneighbourhood(bairro) in the city ofPorto Alegre,the state capital ofRio Grande do Sul,inBrazil.It was created by Law 2022 from December 7, 1959, but had its limits modified by Law 6218 from October 17, 1988, which originated theFarraposandHumaitáneighbourhoods.
It was named after Marcílio Dias (1838-1865), asailorman and war hero during theParaguayan War.
Territorially, Marcílio Dias is a narrow and long strip on the bank ofGuaíba Lake,being bounded by theCentro Histórico(Historic Centre) and theFarrapos,Navegantes,São GeraldoandFlorestaneighbourhoods.
ThePort of Porto Alegreis located here, as well as the GuaíbaBridgeand theSecretaria de Segurança Pública(Public Security Bureau).
