Maria Farhad(Arabic:ماريا فرهاد,born 2001) is an Iraqi model and beauty pageant titleholder who was named Miss Iraq 2021. She representedIraqat theMiss World 2022pageant inPuerto Rico.[1]
Early life
[edit]Farhad was born to an ethnicAssyrianfamily inQaraqosh,located in theNineveh Governorate,northernIraq.Farhad is studyingcomputer scienceat theUniversity of Mosul.Farhad relocated toErbilin the wake of theIslamic Stateattacks in 2014.[2]
Pageantry
[edit]Farhad was named Miss Iraq 2021 at a pageant held in Erbil and sponsored by the Iraqi Culture Ministry and broadcast onAl Rasheed TV.[3]
Although the Miss Iraq organization held a contest to send its representative to Miss Universe, it participated inMiss World2021 instead since theMiss Universe 2021contest venue wasIsrael.[4]
