Marly-la-Ville(French pronunciation:[maʁlilavil] ) is acommunein theVal-d'OisedepartmentinÎle-de-Francein northernFrance,25 km north ofParis.
History
[edit]Thomas-François Dalibardlived at 15 rue du Colonel Fabien, a classical eighteenth-century mansion. He was a naturalist and a disciple ofGeorges-Louis Leclerc de Buffon.He translated and published the works ofCarl Linnaeusthus introducing Linnaean nomenclature in France. Also a devoted physicist, he tested the experimental ideas ofBenjamin Franklinat his house, completing the first capture electrical charge fromlightning.Thus, thelightning rodwas born at Marly-la-Ville.[3]
