Mary Josephine Daley[1](born September 16, 1949) is an American politician. She is currentlyDemocraticmember of thePennsylvania House of Representatives,representing the148th Districtsince 2013.

Early life and education

Daley was born on September 16, 1949, inPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania.She graduated from Predergast High School in 1967. Daley earned an associate's degree in science fromGwynedd Mercy Collegein 1969. She earned addition degrees, aBachelor of Business Administrationand aMaster of Public Administration,from theUniversity of Pennsylvaniain 1987 and 2001, respectively.[1]

Career

From 1992 to 2013, Daley was a financial and administrative official for theUniversity of Pennsylvania[1]

First elected in 1991 and concluding in 2011, Daley served on the borough council ofNarberth, Pennsylvania.[1]For the final ten years she was the council's president.[1][2]In 1998, Daley unsuccessfully sought election to thePennsylvania House of Representatives.[1]After RepresentativeMichael F. Gerberwithdrew, the Montgomery County Democratic Committee chose Daley to replace Gerber as the nominee for the148th Districtin the2012 election.[3]She defeated Republican candidate Mike Ludwig in the election.[2]Daley has been continuously re-elected ever since.[1]Daley announced her campaign for Pennsylvania's newly drawn4th Congressional Districtin February 2018.[4]She would dropout in April and endorsedMadeleine Dean.[5]In 2023, Daley was named chair of the State House's Tourism & Economic & Recreational Development Committee.[6]

Personal life

Daley lives in her hometown ofNarberthwith her husband Bob Winkelman. She has one daughter and two stepchildren.[7]
