Matthew Charles Czuchry(/ˈzkri/;born May 20, 1977[1][2]) is an American actor. He is known for his roles asLogan HuntzbergeronThe WBtelevision seriesGilmore Girls(2005–2007), Cary Agos on theCBStelevision dramaThe Good Wife(2009–2016), and Conrad Hawkins on theFoxmedical drama seriesThe Resident(2018–2023).

Early life

Czuchry was born inManchester, New Hampshire,and grew up inJohnson City, Tennessee.[1][3]His father, Andrew Czuchry, is a professor atEast Tennessee State University,and his mother, Sandra, is a homemaker.[3]He is ofUkrainiandescent on his father's side.[4]He has two brothers and a sister.[3]

He graduated fromScience Hill High Schoolin 1995,[3]where he was Tennessee state prep tennis singles champion that year.[5][6]Czuchry attendedCollege of Charlestonon a tennis scholarship, captained the men's tennis team, and was anNCAAranked player in theSouthern Conference.[7][8]He won the Mr. College of Charleston pageant in 1998[3]and graduated with honors in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science.[3]

Czuchry took one theater class in college, and his professor encouraged him to change his major to drama.[3]It was during his first role onThe WB'sYoung Americansthat he metKate Bosworth,whom he dated from 2000 to 2002.[9]He also had guest spots onFreaks and Geeks,7th Heaven,The Practice,Veronica MarsandFriday Night Lights.After recurring on theCBStelevision dramaHackand starring in theUPNpilotJake 2.0,Czuchry received his breakthrough role asLogan Huntzbergeron the television seriesGilmore Girlsin 2004. His role was initially recurring during the series'fifth seasonbefore being upgraded to a series regular during thesixth season.

From 2009 to 2016, Czuchry portrayed lawyer Cary Agos on the CBS dramaThe Good Wife.[10]He also reprised his role as Logan Huntzberger onNetflix's reunion miniseries,Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life(2016).[11]

Czuchry starred inFox's medical drama seriesThe Resident,which premiered on January 21, 2018.[12]He played the central character, Dr. Conrad Hawkins. The series was renewed for a second season on May 7, 2018,[13]a third season on March 25, 2019,[14]and a fourth season in May 2020.[citation needed]The drama was then renewed for a fifth and final sixth season.
