Maura Catherine Derrane(born 8 July 1970) is an Irish television presenter and journalist. She currently[when?]works forRTÉ,having previously worked forTV3andTG4.

Derrane is a fromInishmore,County Galway.She previously worked as a researcher forRTÉ Newsin Galway.[1]In 1996, she moved toTG4as a news reporter. From 1998, she worked forTV3 News.She worked as a news reporter and crime correspondent.[2]

From 2004 to 2006, she was a co-presenter onIreland AM.She has presented three series ofFeirm FactoronTG4.[3]

Derrane presentedThe Afternoon Showfrom October 2009, withSheana Keane.[3]The programme was dropped after the launch of the 2010 new season ofRTÉ Television,[4]and replaced by two other afternoon chat shows.Four Livewas presented by Derrane, and was followed byThe Daily Showpresented byDáithí Ó SéandClaire Byrne.[5]These ended in March 2012.[6]

Todaydebuted in November 2012, and is hosted each weekday by Maura Derrane and Dáithí Ó Sé.[7]

Personal life

In 2005, she married politicianJohn Deasyand lived with him inDungarvan,County Waterford.[1]She gave birth to a son in May 2014,[3]and later moved with her family to Dublin.[citation needed]
