Medija(pronounced[mɛˈdiːja];German:Gallenegg[2]) is a small settlement in theMunicipality of Zagorje ob Saviin centralSlovenia.It lies along the upper valley ofMedija Creek,a minor lefttributaryof theSavaRiver. The area is part of the traditional region ofUpper Carniola.It is now included with the rest of the municipality in theCentral Sava Statistical Region.[3]
Name
[edit]Medija was attested in written sources in 1360 asMudeyandModey.The name is probably originally ahydronymof uncertain origin. The name may be pre-Slavic; the ending-ijaimplies that it is of non-Slovene origin.[4]
