Micah Sloat(/ˈmkə/;born 1980 or 1981) is an American actor, largely known for his leading role as Micah in the 2007 hit horror filmParanormal Activity.He also appeared in its 2010 sequelParanormal Activity 2[1]and had a cameo in the spin-off filmParanormal Activity: The Marked Onesin 2014.

Life and career

Sloat was born inWestport, Connecticut,[2]as the oldest of six siblings. He obtained hisbachelor's degreein Philosophy fromSkidmore Collegein 2004.

Sloat plays both rock and blues on the guitar and also sings with the world championWestminsterbarbershop chorus. In 2005, Sloat moved to Los Angeles and attended theMusicians Institutein Hollywood and began studying acting.[1]

He was still taking classes when he noticed acastingadvertisement forParanormal Activityin the spring of 2006.[1]The ad asked for unknown actors with the ability toimprovisewho could work during the night without knowing what the next scene would entail.[1]

Released widely in 2009,Paranormal Activityproved to be an unexpected hit at the box office, grossing more than $190 million worldwide.[3]He returned to theParanormal Activityfranchisein the film'sprequel,[4][5]and had acameo appearancein the series' spin-off,Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones,in 2014.
