Mid Fife and Glenrothesis aconstituencyof theScottish Parliament(Holyrood) covering part of thecouncil areaofFife.It elects oneMember of the Scottish Parliament (MSP)by theplurality (first past the post)method of election. It is one of nine constituencies in theMid Scotland and Fifeelectoral region,which elects sevenadditional members,in addition to the nine constituency MSPs, to produce a form ofproportional representationfor the region as a whole. Created in 2011, the constituency comprises most of the previousCentral Fifeconstituency which was abolished for the2011 Scottish Parliament election.
The seat has been held byJenny Gilruthof theScottish National Partysince the2016 Scottish Parliament election.
Electoral region
[edit]The other eight constituencies of the Mid Scotland and Fife region are:Clackmannanshire and Dunblane,Cowdenbeath,Dunfermline,Kirkcaldy,North East Fife,Perthshire North,Perthshire South and Kinross-shireandStirling.[2]
These constituencies collectively cover theClackmannanshire council area,theFife council area,thePerth and Kinross council areaand theStirling council area.

[edit]Fifeis represented in theScottish Parliamentby five constituencies,Cowdenbeath,Dunfermline,Kirkcaldy,Mid Fife and Glenrothes andNorth East Fife. The seat of Mid Fife and Glenrothes is formed from the following electoral wards, all of which are part of Fife:[3]
- Glenrothes West and Kinglassie
- Glenrothes North, Leslie and Markinch
- Glenrothes Central and Thornton
- Leven, Kennoway and Largo
