Mitchell Aram Glazer(born 1952/1953)[1]is an American writer, producer, and actor.[2][3]
Early life
[edit]Glazer was born inKey Biscayne, Florida,and was raised in Miami, the son of Leonard and Zelda Glazer, an English teacher.[4]Glazer is a close relative ofSidney Glazierand musicianTom Glazer.[citation needed]He attendedMiami Beach High Schooland graduated from there early in 1970.[5]He attendedClark Universitybefore transferring toNYU.Before becoming a screenwriter, he wrote for the music publicationsRolling Stonemagazine andCrawdaddy!,where he met and befriendedTimothy White.He isJewish.[6]
Career
[edit]Glazer was a reporter forCrawdaddy!magazine in the late 1970s. He collaborated with friend and writing partnerMichael O'Donoghueon several projects, most notably the holiday comedyScroogedthat starredBill Murray.He was also good friends withJohn Belushi,and wrote the novelization forThe Blues Brothersunder the pen name "Miami Mitch."
Glazer was formerly married to actressWendie Malickbut divorced her in 1989 after seven years. In 1992 he married actressKelly Lynchand legally adopted her daughter Shane.[7]Glazer and Lynch own two modern architectural homes in California: one byJohn Lautnerin theHollywood Hillsand the other byRichard NeutrainLone Pine, California.[citation needed]In 2007, Glazer and Lynch were named as one ofVanity Fair'sbest-dressed couples.
Glazer is friends with actorsBill MurrayandMickey Rourke,who was two years ahead of him at Miami Beach High School.
