Moiynkum(Kazakh:Мойынқұм;until 1997Furmanovka) is a village(auyl)in southeasternKazakhstan.It is the seat ofMoiynkum DistrictofJambyl Region.Population: 8,463 (2009 Census results);[1].

Geography

The village is located by theChuriver, 80 kilometers (50 mi) to the southeast of lakeKokuydynkol.It lies at the northeastern edge of theMoiynkum Desert.[2][3]

Climate

Moiynkum has asteppe climate(Köppen:BSk),[4]with hot summers and cold winters.
