Morgan Toneyis aMi'kmaqfolk singer-songwriter and fiddler fromNova Scotia,Canada, whose music blendsCeltic folkand traditional Mi'kmaq music.[1]He is a member of theWagmatcook First Nation.[2]

Toney began his musical career as a drummer, but began learning the fiddle in the late 2010s. He met singer-songwriterKeith Mullins,with whom he planned to record an album but found their plans halted by theCOVID-19 pandemic.[1]He made his debut at the virtual edition of theCeltic Coloursfestival in 2020, sharing the stage withAshley MacIsaac.[3]

Toney and Mullins then launched aGoFundMepage to assist in the recording of Toney's debut albumFirst Flight,which was released independently in 2021.[1]He received aCanadian Folk Music Awardnominee forIndigenous Songwriter of the Yearat the17th Canadian Folk Music Awardsin 2022,[4]andFirst Flightwas reissued in March 2022 onIshkōdé Records,a record label owned and operated byAmanda RheaumeandShoShonna Kish.[5]

His 2023 albumResiliencereceived aJuno Awardnomination forTraditional Roots Album of the Yearat theJuno Awards of 2024.[6]
