NGC 1979(also known asESO 487-24) is alenticular galaxyin theLepusconstellation. It is about 78 million light-years from theMilky Way.[4]It was discovered byWilliam Herschelon 20 November, 1784[5]and its size is 1.8 by 1.8arc minutes.[3]
