NGC 5023is an edge-onspiral galaxylocated in the constellationCanes Venatici.It is considered a member of theM51 Groupalthough it is actually relatively isolated from other galaxies.[2]It is approximately 15kiloparsecs(49,000light-years) across and contains more than 200 stars with anapparent magnitudeof greater than 23.5.[1]
