NGC 5229is an edge-onspiral galaxylocated in the constellationCanes Venatici. It is a member of theM51 Groupalthough in reality it is relatively isolated from other galaxies.[3]The galaxy's disc is somewhat warped and appears to consist of a series of interconnected clusters of stars from our vantage point on Earth.[1][4]It is approximately 7kiloparsecs(23,000light-years) in diameter and is about 13.7 billion years old.[2]
