Nachingweais a district in theLindi RegionofTanzania.The district is bordered to the north by theRuangwa District,to the east by theLindi Rural District,to the south-east by theMtwara Region,and to the south-west by theRuvuma Region.
According to the 2022 national census, the Nachingwea District had a population of 233,655.[1][2]
The district has a hospital, a teachers' training college, a secondary school, four primary schools, a nursery school, and a day care centre.Nachingwea Airportand an army barracks also are in the district. The district was one of the centres for thegroundnut schemein the 1950s.[citation needed][3][4]
TheNachingwea Medalis named after this place.[citation needed]
