TheNational Museum of Subaquatic Archaeology(Spanish:Museo Nacional de Arqueología Subacuática - ARQVA) is aunderwater archaeologymuseum inCartagena(Murcia), Spain. It owns a large collection of pieces recovered fromshipwrecksthat begins in thePhoenicianperiod, and arrives until the 19th century.[1]It is one of the National Museums of Spain and it is attached to theMinistry of Culture.
On December 2, 2012, the 14.5 tons cargo of gold and silver coins recovered from the wreck of the frigateNuestra Señora de las Mercedeswas deposited in the museum for cataloging, study and permanent display.[2][3]
