The main attraction in the community is theNatural Bridge.The site, aNational Historic Landmark,is anatural archwithin alimestonegorge formed byCedar Creek.The land including the bridge was once owned byThomas Jefferson,and according to legend,George Washingtonsurveyed the bridge.[5]Natural Bridge Zoo,Natural Bridge Cavernsand the Virginia Safari Park are located nearby. In addition to the Natural Bridge, theRockbridge Inn,Vine Forest,andVirginia Manorare listed on theNational Register of Historic Places,and the heart of the resort area at the center of the village is listed as theNatural Bridge Historic District.[6]
