Naturns(German pronunciation:[naˈtʊrns];Italian:Naturno[naˈturno]) is acomune(municipality) and a village in the province ofSouth Tyrolin northernItaly,located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of the city ofBolzano.

Geography[edit]

As of 31 December 2015, it had a population of 5,739 and an area of 67.0 square kilometres (25.9 sq mi).[3]

Naturns borders the following municipalities:Kastelbell-Tschars,Algund,Lana,Partschins,Plaus,St. Pankraz,Schnals,andUlten.

Frazioni[edit]

The municipality contains thefrazioni(subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Staben (Stava) and Tabland (Tablà).

Coat-of-arms[edit]

The shieldazureand an equilateral triangle ofor.It is taken from that of the old dynasty of the Lords ofNalswho lived in the village until 1380. The coat of arms was granted in 1966.[4]
