Neonteichos
Neonteichos(Ancient Greek:Νέον τεῖχος,lit. 'new wall'), was anAeoliantown not far from the coast ofMysia,situated between theHermusand the town ofLarissa,from which its distance was only 30stadia.[1]It is said to have been founded by theAeolians,as a temporary fort on their first arrival inAsia Minor.According toStrabo,[2]the place was more ancient even thanCyme;but according to a statement in the Vita Homeri[3]it was built eight years later than Cyme, as a protection against thePelasgiansof Larissa.[4][5][6][7]
Its site is tentatively located nearYanıkköy,Asiatic Turkey.[8][9]
