Ney Keller(born 2 December 1958) is a former professionaltennisplayer from Brazil.
Biography
[edit]Keller, who comes fromPorto Alegre,represented theBrazil Davis Cup teamduring their1978 Davis Cupcampaign. Primarily a doubles player, he played the doubles rubber in three ties, the first againstBoliviainCochabamba,which he and partnerCarlos Kirmayrwon easily to give Brazil an unassailable lead in the tie.[1]He teamed up with Kirmayr again to defeatUruguay'sdoubles pair when the two sides met inItu,a win that again secured the tie for Brazil.[2]His final appearance came in the South America Zone semi-final in Buenos Aires. On this occasion he partneredCássio Mottaand they were unable to defeatArgentineplayerElio AlvarezandJosé Luis Clercin a must win rubber, losing in straight sets.[3]
As a professional player in the 1980s he featured in the men's doubles draws of both theFrench OpenandWimbledon Championships.He made one final on theGrand Prix circuit,atViña del Marin 1983, partnered withJúlio Góes.They lost the final to the Chilean pairing ofHans GildemeisterandBelus Prajoux.[4]He won twoChallengertitles, both in doubles. Playing in singles he made several main draw appearances in South American Grand Prix tournaments. He was also runner-up at a São Paulo Challenger tournament in 1982 and won a match overAdriano Panattaat theBresciaChallenger in 1983.
