Glencross began her wrestling career on theindependent circuitunder the ring nameNikki Storm,most notably performing forInsane Championship Wrestling,Pro-Wrestling: EVE,andShimmer Women Athletes.In 2016, Glencross signed a contract with WWE, changing her ring name to Nikki Cross. During her first years with the company, she worked on theNXTbrand as part of thestableSanity.Her first character gimmick was that of a psychopathic and unhinged woman who would suffer mood swings. In mid-2018, Sanity was drafted toSmackDownwithout Cross, who stayed in NXT.

Cross was promoted to the main roster in December 2018. In 2019, Cross was drafted to Raw and formed atag teamwithAlexa Bliss,winning the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship twice. From June 2021 to October 2022, Glencross' character became a faux-superhero known asNikki A. S. H.(standing for "Almost A Superhero" ). As Nikki A. S. H., she won theMoney in the Bank contractand successfully cashed it in the next day to become Raw Women's Champion. She also won the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship alongsideRhea Ripley.In 2022, she reverted back to the Nikki Cross name and persona.

Early life[edit]

Nicola Glencross was born and raised inGlasgow,Scotland[8]and graduated from theUniversity of Glasgowwith aBachelor of Arts[9]and obtained herMaster's degreefrom theUniversity of Edinburgh;her Master's dissertation was on the subject of women's wrestling.[10][11]

Professional wrestling career[edit]

Early career (2008–2016)[edit]

In September 2008, Glencross made her professional wrestling debut with the Scottish Wrestling Alliance. She initially performed under thering name"Nikki Storm",[3]a name given to her by then-SWA ring announcer Marty Michaels, inspired by theX MencharacterStorm.In February 2010, she began working on the Britishindependent circuit,and became a mainstay for promotions such as her debuting at theInsane Championship Wrestling(ICW),[5][7]andPro-Wrestling: EVE,where she held thePro-Wrestling: EVE Championshipthree times.[7]In 2013, Storm began touring in Japan withJWP Joshi Puroresu,and made some appearances forWorld Wonder Ring Stardomuntil the middle of the summer of 2015.[3][7]

In October 2013, Storm began wrestling for American all-female promotionsShimmer Women Athletes,Shine WrestlingandWomen Superstars Uncensored.[7]She has also wrestled forGlobal Force Wrestling(GFW), Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), World Wide Wrestling League (W3L), Queens of Combat, andWorld Xtreme Wrestling.[2][7]

Glencross competed inTotal Nonstop Action Wrestling(TNA)'sBritish Boot Camp 2,which began airing in October 2014, in which she was unsuccessful.[1]During the show, she had a four-way match against Kasey Owens,Kay Lee Rayand Leah Owens, which she was victorious.

WWE[edit]

Sanity (2016–2018)[edit]

Glencross received a tryout withWWEinLondonduring the autumn of 2015,[12]and in April 2016, she was one of ten signees that had begun training at theWWE Performance CenterinOrlando, Florida.[13]She debuted forNXTon 22 April during alive event.[14]During aFacebooklive video in August, she was introduced as Nikki Cross.[15]She made her first televised appearance and in-ring debut on 17 August episode ofNXTunder the name Nikki Glencross, where she competed in asix-woman tag team matchalong withCarmellaandLiv Morgan,defeatingDaria Berenato,Mandy Rose,andAlexa Bliss.[16] On 12 October episode ofNXT,Nikki Cross returned as part of the debutingheelstable,Sanity,along withAlexander Wolfe,Eric Young,andSawyer Fulton(who was later replaced byKillian Dain). Nikki Cross and Young accompanied Fulton and Wolfe for their winning effort againstBobby RoodeandTye Dillingerin the first round of theDusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.[17]One week later, Nikki Cross scored her first televised singles victory overDanielle Kamela,however, the decision was reversed because Nikki Cross continued to attack Kamela after the match.[18] On 11 January 2017 episode ofNXT,Nikki Cross came to the aid ofNXT Women's ChampionAsuka,who was being attacked byThe Iconic Duo(Billie KayandPeyton Royce), before turning on Asuka and attacking her as well.[19]As a result, Cross, Royce, and Kay were placed in afour-way matchat theTakeOver: San Antonioevent on 28 January, which Cross failed to win.[20]In May, Cross participated in a number one contender's battle royal for Asuka's NXT Women's Championship, where she,Ruby Riot,andEmber Moonwere attacked by Asuka for being the last competitors left in the match and as a result, all four of them were placed into a four-way championship match atTakeOver: Chicago,[21]which was later changed to athree-way matchafter Ember Moon suffered an injury.[22]At the event, Cross failed to capture the title.[23]In a rematch which was contested in athree-way elimination matchonce again against both women, Riot was the first eliminated before the match ended in ano contestas Cross and Asuka brawled backstage.[24]This led to alast woman standing match(the first-ever in WWE history) between the two women for the NXT Women's Championship on 28 June episode ofNXT,in which Cross was once again defeated.[25]

On 19 August atTakeOver: Brooklyn III,Cross accompanied and helped Sanity to capture theNXT Tag Team Championshipfrom TheAuthors of Pain.[26]On 20 September episode ofNXT,Sanity helpedDrew McIntyreagainstThe Undisputed Era,thus turning themfacein the process.[27]In October, Cross earned herself a spot for thefatal four-way matchfor the vacant NXT Women's Championship atTakeOver: WarGameson 18 November,[28][29]which was ultimately won by Ember Moon.[30]During the2018 Superstar Shake-up,her fellow stable partners Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe, and Killian Dain were drafted toSmackDown,leaving Cross on NXT to work again as a singles competitor.[31]

In 2018, Cross began a short winning streak, defeatingLacey Evans[32]andVanessa Borne.[33]Throughout the summer, Cross started a feud withShayna Baszlerover the NXT Women's Championship, which led to a match between the two atTakeOver: Chicago II,in which Cross was once again unsuccessful and was defeated by technical submission.[34]After a short hiatus, Cross returned in August[35]and she was placed in theAleister Blackattackstorylinewhere she was revealed to be a witness as she was on the roof of the building at the time he was attacked. In September, Cross also started a short feud withBianca Belairwhich led to a match between the two that ended in a double count-out.[36]One month later on 17 October episode ofNXT,a rematch ended in a no contest after Aleister Black returned and interrupted it to ask Cross who his attacker was.[37]Johnny Garganowas eventually revealed as the attacker and her involvement in the storyline sparked a match between Cross and Gargano's wifeCandice LeRae,whom she was able to defeat in a singles match atTakeOver: WarGames.[38]

Teaming with Alexa Bliss (2018–2020)[edit]

On 6 November 2018 episode ofSmackDownfromManchester,England, Cross made her surprise main roster debut onSmackDownby answering an open challenge fromWWE SmackDown Women's ChampionBecky Lynch,who defeated her in a non-title match.[39]On 17 December 2018 episode ofRaw,Cross was advertised as one of the six NXT wrestlers about to be moved up to the main roster.[40][41]Cross wrestled her final NXT match on 9 January 2019 episode ofNXT,where she lost to Bianca Belair, officially ending the feud between the two as well.[42]On 14 January 2019 episode ofRaw,Cross made herRawdebut, teaming withBayleyandNatalyain a winning effort against The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott, andSarah Logan).[43]At theRoyal Rumble,Cross entered her firstRoyal Rumble matchat number 8, lasting nine minutes before being eliminated by The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce).[44]On 4 February episode ofRaw,Cross andAlicia Foxwere defeated by The Boss 'n' Hug Connection (Bayley and Sasha Banks) in a match to determine the final Raw entrants in thetag teamElimination Chamber matchto determine the inauguralWWE Women's Tag Team Championsat theElimination Chamberevent.[45]On 8 April (aired24 April) atWorlds Collide,she took part in a triple threat match for theNXT UK Women's Championship,which was won by defending championToni Storm.[46]

After not being mentioned during the2019 WWE Superstar Shake-up,Cross was confirmed to have been drafted to the Raw brand on 8 May taping ofMain Event(aired on 11 May).[47][48][49]She began to work withAlexa Blissand, during the following weeks, they would have matches for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship and the SmackDown Women's Championship.[50][51]On 5 August 2019 episode ofRaw,Bliss and Cross captured theWWE Women's Tag Team Championship,marking Nikki Cross's first championship in WWE.[52]They would defend the title atSummerSlamand atClash of Championsbut lost it atHell in a CelltoAsukaandKairi Sane.[53]Although drafted separately instead of as a team during the2019 WWE Draft,they remained on Raw,[54]but the team was then traded to SmackDown.[55]AtWrestleMania 36,Cross and Bliss won the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship for a second time by defeatingAsukaandKairi Sane,[56]but they lost it on 5 June 2020 episode ofSmackDowntoBayley and Sasha Banks.[57]

On the 26 June episode ofSmackDown,Cross won afatal four-way matchto earn a SmackDown Women's Championship match against Bayley atThe Horror Show at Extreme Rules,where Cross lost the match.[58]On the 24 July episode ofSmackDown,Cross demanded a rematch for the SmackDown Women's Championship, but Bayley stated that Cross must defeat a worthy adversary in Bliss, setting up a match between Bliss and Cross where the winner would face Bayley for the title on the following week's SmackDown; Cross defeated Bliss to earn a rematch. On the 31 July episode of SmackDown, Cross shoved Bliss onto the floor after losing a SmackDown Women's Championship match against Bayley, and Bliss was attacked by"The Fiend" Bray Wyatt.[59]Bliss then aligned herself with The Fiend, and Cross tried to maintain her friendship with her, but Bliss refused and attacked Cross. As part of the2020 WWE Draft,Cross was drafted to theRawbrand.[60]

"Almost a Super Hero" and return as Nikki Cross (2021–2023)[edit]

On 21 June 2021 episode ofRaw,Nikki Cross debuted an inspired faux-superhero gimmick with her ring name changing to Nikki A. S. H., with A. S. H. standing for "Almost a Super Hero".[61]AtMoney in the Bank,She won the women's Money in the Bank ladder match and cashed in her Money in the Bank contract the following night on Raw, defeatingCharlotte Flairto win theRaw Women's Championshipfor the first time in her career.[62][63]However, she lost the title back to Flair atSummerSlam.[64]On 20 September episode ofRaw,she would win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship for a third time withRhea Ripleyby defeatingNatalyaandTamina.[65]They lost it on 22 November episode ofRawtoQueen ZelinaandCarmella,ending their reign at 63 days.[66]On 10 January 2022 episode ofRaw,she turnedheelby attacking Ripley.[67]She participated in theRoyal Rumble matchat thenamesake eventand entered at #22, eliminatingMighty Molly(who also had a super heroine gimmick) before she was eliminated by eventual winnerRonda Rousey.[68]AtElimination Chamber,she entered theElimination Chamber matchfor a Raw Women's Championship match atWrestleMania 38,but was eliminated by Ripley.[69]On the 2 May episode ofRaw,she would win theWWE 24/7 ChampionshipfromDana Brooke,only to lose it to Brooke on the same episode.[70]

In May 2022, she began to work withDoudropas a tag team.[71]After the Women's Tag Team Championship was vacated in May, A. S. H. and Doudrop entered a tournament to crown new champions which began in August.[72]They lost in the first round toAlexa Blissand Asuka.[73]On the 30 August episode ofNXT 2.0,A. S. H. and Doudrop made a surprise appearance as they challenged theNXT Women's Tag Team ChampionsKatana ChanceandKayden Carterfor their titles atWorlds Collide,but lost the match.[74]

On the 24 October 2022 episode ofRaw,she interfered in a match betweenBayleyandBianca Belair,attacking both women, and reverting to her "unhinged" gimmick and her "Nikki Cross" name.[75]On the 7 November episode ofRaw,Cross joinedDamage CTRL(Bayley,Dakota Kai,andIyo Sky) in a brawl against Bianca Belair,Asuka,andAlexa Bliss.It was announced later that Cross would team with Damage CTRL to take on Belair, Asuka, and Bliss in aWarGames matchatSurvivor Series WarGameson 26 November 2022.[76]Later in the night, Cross defeatedDana Brooketo win her11th24/7 Championship,but later discarded the title belt backstage;[77]the title was deactivated shortly thereafter. Cross then started a storyline where she stalkedCandice LeRae.Cross partneredNatalyaagainstChelsea Green&Piper Nivenon the 23 October 2023 episode ofRaw,but just stood by the ring, making no effort to take part in the match before walking off.[78]Cross spent the next few months in a similar state, making no attempt to fight when involved in matches[79]and mainly being seen wandering backstage areas.

The Wyatt Sicks (2024–present)[edit]

Cross introduced herself as part of debutingWyatt Sicksstable on 17 June 2024 episode ofRaw,appearing visually to represent Sister Abigail or Abby the Witch fromBray Wyatt's"Firefly Funhouse",[80]a character previously a part of Wyatt's history and lore.[81]

Personal life[edit]

In 2016, Glencross married her long-time boyfriend, Northern Irish professional wrestlerDamian Mackle,best known as Big Damo, and performed as Killian Dain in WWE alongside Glencross as part of the stableSanity.[82]In 2023, she graduated from theUniversity of Edinburghwith amaster's degreeinhistory.
