Nkawkawis a town in southernGhanaand is the capital ofKwahu West Municipal,[2][3]an area in theEastern Regionof southGhana.Nkawkaw has a 2013settlementpopulation of 61,785 people.[1]Nkawkaw is also described as a city in a valley as it the gateway to ascend theKwahumountains. Hon. Joseph Frempong is the current member of parliament for the Kwahu West who was elected in the 2020 elections.[4]
Geography
[edit]Nkawkaw is situated on theroadand formerrailwaybetweenAccraandKumasi,and lies about halfway between these cities. It is also connected by road toKoforiduaandKonongo.Nkawkaw is one of the major towns of the KwahuMountains.Historically it is not considered as a Kwahu town because it is not on top of themountain range.[5]According to the 2013 census Nkawkaw has asettlementpopulation of 61,785.[1]
