Omoikane( tư kiêm or tư kim ) is aShintoKamiof wisdom and intelligence. His name means "having the wisdom and thoughtfulness of many people".[1]A heavenly deity who is called upon to "ponder" and give good counsel in the deliberations of the heavenly deities. In the myth whereAmaterasuhid in a cave, he was entrusted with the task of finding a way to get her out.[2]Carpenters pray to him during the construction of pillars in a building. Usually, Japanese people pray to Omoikane for success in school and exams.
He is known by other names asTokoyo-no-Omoikane( thường thế tư kim thần ) in theKojiki( cổ sự ký );Omoikane( tư kiêm thần ) in theNihon Shoki( nhật bổn thư kỷ );Omokane( tư kim thần, tư kiêm thần ),Tokoyo-no-Omoikane( thường thế tư kim thần ),Yagokoro-omoikane( bát ý tư kiêm thần, bát ý tư kim thần ) in theKujiki( cựu sự kỷ orSendai Kuji HongiTiên đại cựu sự bổn kỷ ), orAchihiko( a trí ngạn ).
He is the son of creator deityTakamimusubi[3]( cao ngự sản 巣 nhật thần ) and the older brother ofTakuhatachiji-hime( khảo phiên thiên thiên cơ mệnh, or commonly named in theKojiki:Vạn phiên phong thu tân sư bỉ mại mệnhYorozuhatatoyo'akitsushi-hime), who is married to the deityAme-no-Oshihomimi( thiên nhẫn tuệ nhĩ mệnh ). In theKojikiTenson kōrinmyth, Omoikane is one of thekamiwho descends to earth.
However, in theKujiki( cựu sự kỷ orSendai Kyuji HongiTiên đại cựu sự bổn kỷ ). Omoikane descends toShinano Province( tín nùng quốcShinano-no-kuni,a former province that is nowNagano Prefecture) to become the ancestor ofShina-no-achihouri( tín chi a trí chúc ) and as inChichibu Province( tri 々 phu quốc,Chichibu no kuni), a former province inSaitama Prefecture.He then becomes the father of both deities,Ame-no-Uwaharu( thiên biểu xuân mệnh ) andAme-no-Shitaharu( thiên hạ xuân mệnh ), also through this lineage becomes the patriarchal ancestor of the children ofAma-no-Koyane( thiên nhi ốc mệnh, thiên nhi ốc căn mệnh ).
