Operation Mar Lewewas a three-dayInternational Security Assistance Forceoperation started in the early hours of Friday 29 May 2009 when theTalibanwere attacked as theAfghan Security ForcesandBritish Armystruck at enemy positions around the village of Yatimchay, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) south ofMusa Qaleh,Helmand Province,Afghanistan.[1]"Mar Lewe" isPashtofor "snake wolf".[1][2]

The British Army forces were from the 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers,[1]a well trained, operationally hardened Light Role Infantry Battalion.[3]
