Orly J. Punzalan(September 9, 1935 – January 6, 2005) was a Filipino radio-TV personality in thePhilippines.

Personal life

In 1967, he was married to actress and broadcaster,Helen Vela[1](1946–1992). They had four children, including Pastor Paolo Punzalan[2](Senior Pastor ofVictory Fort Bonifacio)andPrincess Punzalan.[3]The couple separated in 1973 and later divorced. He later married a woman named Pilar.[2]

Career

Punzalan was once the station manager ofRadio Veritas.[4][5]He also hosted a program calledTouching Livesin the same station.[6]The broadcaster was also once the president of theIntercontinental Broadcasting Corporationfrom 1987 to 1989.[7]Punzalan is considered as one of the veterans in Philippine communication arts and acted as a consultant for several radio and television stations.[8]

In February 2000, he received the Edsa People Power Freedom Award.[2]

In his later years, Punzalan taught broadcasting in institutions such as theColegio de San Juan Letranand theUniversity of Perpetual Help-Rizal.[2]

Death

He died of cardiac arrest on January 6, 2005, at theNational Kidney and Transplant Institute.He was 70.[2]He was buried at the Manila Memorial Park inParañaque City.[9]Alongside him lays his wifeHelen Vela(who died in 1992).
