PBX/Knotted 1 Homeobox 1(PKNOX1) is aproteinthat in humans is encoded by thePKNOX1gene.[5][6]

An importantparalogof this gene isPKNOX2.

Function[edit]

PKNOX1 belongs to the threeamino acidloop extension(TALE) class ofhomeodomaintranscription factorsthat formtranscriptionally activecomplexes involved in development andorganogenesis.PKNOX1 is essential forembryogenesis, but it can also act as atumor suppressorinadulthood.[7]
