Pakistan Observeris one of the oldest and widely read English-languagedaily newspapersof Pakistan.[peacock prose]

It is published from six cities –Islamabad,Karachi,Lahore,Peshawar,QuettaandMuzaffarabad.[2]The newspaper was founded in 1988 by the veteran journalist lateZahid Malik.[1]

Topics the newspaper covers includepolitics,international affairs,economics,investment,sportsandculture.[3]It runs a leading Sunday magazine calledSocialDiary,which includessocial commentary,interviews, fashion, recipes, reviews, travel advice, blogs and technology news.

Background and outlook[edit]

The newspaper was first published as an eveninger on 1 November 1988 fromIslamabad,making it the first English eveninger to be published from the capital city.[4]Later, it was made a morning newspaper. The newspaper is now led by Faisal Zahid Malik, who is also theeditor-in-chief.The head office is in the capital cityIslamabad,[5]and it has five other offices inKarachi,Lahore,Peshawar,QuettaandMuzaffarabad.Abdus Sattar,formerForeign Minister of Pakistan,remained the lead current affairs analyst of the newspaper. He focussed on international security.

In 2019, its readership and Newspaper Web Ranking withinPakistan,rated by the International Media & Newspapers website, was ranked 10.[6]
