Career
[edit]Thornton was a founding member of the sketch comedy troupeThe Sketchersons,[2]he also later appeared in the sketch comedy seriesHotbox[2]andSunnyside.[4]
His acting roles have included a recurring role in the sitcomSatisfaction,the web seriesSpace JanitorsandEveryone's Famous,and guest appearances inWarehouse 13,Working the Engels,Spun OutandRoyal Canadian Air Farce.He garnered twoCanadian Screen Awardnominations at the2nd Canadian Screen Awardsin 2014, in the categories of Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series forSatisfaction,and Performance in a Program or Series Produced for Digital Media forEveryone's Famous.At the4th Canadian Screen Awardsin 2016, Thornton and the other core cast ofSunnysidecollectively won the award for Best Performance in a Variety or Sketch Comedy Program or Series.[5]
In 2017, he starred in the comedy filmFilth City,loosely based on the drug scandal surrounding formerTorontomayorRob Ford.On January 29, 2019, Thornton was nominated for aJuno Awardin theComedy Album of the Yearcategory for his stand-up comedy albumChicken![6]
