Peter Campion(born c. 1987/1988) (sometimes credited asArt Campion)[1]is an Irish actor and presenter. He is best known for his roles in theRTÉ OnedramaLove/Hate(2010–2011) and theChannel 4sitcomsLondon Irish(2013) andDerry Girls(2018–2022).
Early life[edit]
Campion grew up inBirr, County Offaly.His family moved to theDublinsuburb ofDartrywhen he was 12. He attended boarding schoolClongowes Wood CollegeinCounty Kildarefor secondary school where he participated in school plays. He moved toLondonfor drama school, training at theLondon Academy of Music and Dramatic Art(LAMDA), going on to graduate from theGuildhall School of Music and Dramain 2010.[2]
Career[edit]
Upon graduation from Guildhall, Campion played Galanba in theRoyal National Theatreproduction ofThe White Guard.[3]That same year, he began appearing on television as Stumpy Doyle inLove/Hateand Dr. Jack Flynn inRaw.He starred in the Edinburgh production ofThe Lieutenant of Inishmore.[4]He played Ronan McCann in the first and second series of theBBC Two Northern Irelanddrama6Degrees.In 2013, he starred as Packy Kennedy in theChannel 4sitcomLondon Irish.[5]
In 2015, Campion made his film debut as George Sheridan inBrooklyn.This was followed by the musicalSing Streetand theSt. Patrick's Daysegment of the horror anthologyHolidays.[6][7][8]He starred in the Belfast production ofThe Pillowman.
Campion narrates Irish version of the reality showFirst Dates.[9]In 2017, he appeared in theEastEnderslimited spinoffKat & Alfie: Redwaterand the horror filmThe Cured.[10]
In 2018, Campion began playing the guest role of Father Peter in the Channel 4 sitcomDerry Girls.That same year, he landed the roles of Joe in the second series ofCan't Cope, Won't Copeas well as theatre roles inAutumn RoyalandFurniture.[11][12]The following year, Campion had a recurring role as Mickey Gibbs in series 5 of theBBC OneseriesPeaky Blinders.
Campion played Henry Vickers in theAcorn TVcrime dramaDead Still[13]and the teacher Sweeney in the coming-of-age filmDating Amberin 2020, and the Roman consulLiboin theSky AtlanticseriesDominain 2021.
