Peter George Hatch(born 3 July 1938) is anEnglishformer first-class cricketer andBritish Armyofficer.

Hatch was born atKirkee,in what was thenBritish India.He was educated in England atMalvern College,[1]before attending theRoyal Military Academy Sandhurst.He graduated from the Royal Military Academy in December 1958, entering into theRoyal Engineersas asecond lieutenant.[2]He was promoted to the rank oflieutenantin December 1960.[3]Hatch debuted infirst-class cricketfor theCombined Services cricket teamagainstSurreyatThe Ovalin 1960, a season in which he also played against the touringSouth AfricansatPortsmouth.[4]

He attendedQueens' Collegeat theUniversity of Cambridgeduring his military service, graduating with aB.A.in 1963.[5]While at Cambridge, he played two first-class matches for theFree Forestersin 1961.[4]He was the secretary to the college cricket club in 1961–62, a position he relinquished upon his impending marriage.[6]In that same season, he played his final first-class match for the Combined Services againstNorthamptonshire.[4]Across five first-class matches, Hatch scored 60 runs with a high score of 15.[1]Shortly after obtaining his B.A., he was promoted to the rank ofcaptainin December 1964.[7]He gained hismastersfrom Cambridge in 1967.[5]He retired from active military service in June 1968, having received agratuity.[8]
