Phalanger(from the Greekphalangion,meaning spider's web, from their webbed (fused) toes[1]) is agenusofpossums.Its members are found onNew Guinea,theMaluku Islands,other nearby small islands, and Australia'sCape York Peninsula.They aremarsupialsof the familyPhalangeridae,[2]and are one of the four genera whose species are commonly referred to ascuscuses.
