Club career[edit]

VfB Stuttgart II[edit]

He made his first appearance forVfB Stuttgart IIon 20 April 2013 in the3. LigaagainstSV Wacker Burghausen.[1]

1. FC Kaiserslautern[edit]

In 2016, Mwene signed with1. FC Kaiserslautern.In the 2017–18 season he was a consistent performer atright-backcontributing 4 goals and 7 assists in 31 appearances while the club was relegated from the2. Bundesliga.[2]

Mainz 05[edit]

In May 2018,BundesligasideMainz 05announced Mwene would join the club on a free transfer from Kaiserslautern for the 2018–19 season.[2]

PSV[edit]

On 27 May 2021,PSVannounced Mwene would join the club on afree transferfrom Mainz 05, effective from 1 July.[3]

Return to Mainz 05[edit]

On 23 August 2023, Mwene returned toMainz 05with a three-year contract.[4]

International career[edit]

Mwene was born inViennaand holds dual citizenship of Kenya and Austria. He is a youth international for Austria.[5]He was called up to the preliminaryAustriasquad forUEFA Euro 2020.[6]

He made his debut for theAustria national football teamon 4 September 2021 in aWorld Cup qualifieragainstIsrael,a 2–5 away loss. He started the game and played the whole match.[7]
