Pierrette Micheloud(6 December 1915 – 14 November 2007) was a Swiss writer and painter.[1]

Life

She was born inRomontand studied atNeuchâtelandLausanne.She next spent some time in England perfecting her English, going on to study French literature and German at theUniversity of Zurichand theology at theUniversity of Lausanne.She lived in Paris from 1950, where she devoted herself primarily to writing poetry. She also contributed to the Swiss periodicalsLa Liberté[fr],Gazette de LausanneandTreize EtoilesandLes Nouvelles littérairesof Paris. During the 1970s, she was editor of the Paris literary magazineLa voix des poètes.Micheloud also wrote a column on poetry for the weeklyConstruire.[2]

During her time in Paris, there were more than ten major exhibits of her paintings.[3]

Micheloud died inCullyat the age of 91. A foundation was created in her name[1]to preserve and promote her work; it awards an annual prize for poetry in French.[2]

In 1964, with Edith Mora, she founded thePrix Louise-Labé[fr];the jury for this award consists entirely of women.[3]She received the:

  • Prix Edgar Poe awarded by the Maison de poésie of Paris in 1972
  • prize awarded by the canton ofValaisin 2002[2]
