InGreek mythology,Pisidice(/paɪˈsɪdɪsiː/,Ancient Greek:Πεισιδίκη,Peisidíkē,"to convince or persuade" ) orPeisidicewas one of the following individuals:
- Pisidice, aThessalianprincess as the daughter of KingAeolusof Aeolia andEnarete,daughter ofDeimachus.She was the sister ofSalmoneus,Athamas,Sisyphus,Cretheus,Perieres,Deioneus,Magnes,Calyce,Canace,AlcyoneandPerimede.Peisidice was the mother ofAntiphusandActorbyMyrmidon.[1]She may also be the mother of Myrmidon's other children:Erysichthon,[2]Dioplethes,[3]Hiscilla[4]andEupolemeia.[5]
- Pisidice, an alternate name forDemonice,mother ofThestiusbyAres.[6]
- Pisidice, a princess ofIolcusas the daughter ofPelias,who, together with her sisters, killed their father, asMedeatricked them into believing this was needed to rejuvenate him.[7]
- Pisidice, aPylianprincess and daughter of KingNestorandAnaxibia[8]orEurydice.[9]She was sister toPolycaste,Perseus,Stratichus,Aretus,Echephron,Pisistratus,AntilochusandThrasymedes.[10]She was probably the Pisidice who became the mother ofBorusbyPericlymenus,brother of Nestor and consequently her uncle.[11]
- Pisidice, a princess ofMethymna,who fell in love withAchillesas he besieged her city, and promised to put Methymna into his possession if he would marry her. He agreed to her terms but, as soon as the city was his, he ordered that she be stoned to death as a traitor.[12][13]
- Pisidice, a queen ofHaliartusas wife of KingCopreus.[14]She was of royal descent as well as the daughter of KingLeuconofBoeotia.By her husband, Pisidice became the mother ofHippoclus[14]andArgynnos,who was loved byAgamemnonand drowned in RiverCephissus.[15]
