History

The area was originally settled by theLenapeIndians who fished in theDelaware River.Its proximity to the river led to the development ofgrist mills.Grain for the soldiers during theRevolutionary Warwas ground here. In later years, Point Pleasant was a resting spot forcanalmenalong theDelaware Division of the Pennsylvania Canal,and awaystationfor the Doylestown-Frenchtown-New York stage.
TheBridge in Tinicum Township,Cabin Run Covered Bridge,Frankenfield Covered Bridge,andPoint Pleasant Historic Districtare listed on theNational Register of Historic Places.[4]
Water Pump
[edit]Point Pleasant is the location of a major water pump installation on the Delaware River, since 1989. This water supplies the Bradshaw Reservoir andLake Galena ReservoirforMontgomery Countyand Bucks County drinking water.[5]Water is pumped into theNorth Branch Neshaminy Creek.[6] Major consumers of water includePECO Energy Company,theNorth Wales Water Authority,and theNorth Penn Water Authority.[6]
Transportation
[edit]Aside from being located along the Delaware River, Point Pleasant lies alongPennsylvania Route 32,which connects it toNew Hopeto the south.[2]
