Poormanis anunincorporated communityin theYukon-Koyukuk Census Areaof theUnorganized Boroughof theU.S. stateofAlaska,in theKilbuck-Kuskokwin Mountains.It lies along the left bank ofPoorman Creekon an unpaved road 44 miles (71 km) south of the city ofRubyon theYukon River.[2]Its elevation is 502 feet (153 m). Founded as agold miningcamp in 1913, Poorman possessed apost officefrom 1915 to 1932. The community's name (given for the nearby Poorman Creek) was officially decided by theBoard on Geographic Namesin 1944.[1]
