Star Wars: Rogue Squadron(known asStar Wars: Rogue Squadron 3Don the PC) is anarcade-styleaction gameco-developed byFactor 5andLucasArts.It was published by LucasArts andNintendoand released for theNintendo 64andWindows.The first of three games in theRogue Squadronseries,it was released for Windows on December 3, 1998, with a Nintendo 64 version released four days later.Rogue Squadronwas one of the first games to take advantage of the Nintendo 64'sExpansion Pak,which allows gameplay at a 640 × 480display resolution,instead of that system's standard 320 × 240 resolution.

Set in the fictionalStar Warsgalaxyand inspired by theStar Wars: X-wing Rogue Squadroncomics, the game takes place primarily between events in the filmsStar Wars Episode IV: A New HopeandThe Empire Strikes Back.The player controlsLuke Skywalker,commander of the eliteX-wingpilots known as Rogue Squadron. As the game progresses, Skywalker and Rogue Squadron fight theGalactic Empirein sixteen missions across variousplanets.Rogue Squadronreceived generally positive reviews.
