Princess Marie-Astrid of Liechtenstein(Marie-Astrid Nora Margarita Veronica;born 26 June 1987) is a member of thePrincely family of Liechtenstein.She is the niece of two reigning monarchs,Henri, Grand Duke of LuxembourgandHans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein.
Early life and family[edit]
Marie-Astrid was born on 26 June 1987 inUccle,Belgium toPrince Nikolaus of LiechtensteinandPrincess Margaretha of Luxembourg.[1]Her father is the third son ofFranz Joseph IIand the younger brother ofHans-Adam II.Her mother is the daughter ofJean, Grand Duke of LuxembourgandPrincess Joséphine-Charlotte of Belgium.Marie-Astrid is the sister ofPrincess Maria-Anunciata,and Prince Josef-Emmanuel.[2]
Education and career[edit]
Marie-Astrid has a diploma fromLe Cordon Bleuin London and a masters degree in business administration from theLondon School of Business and Finance.[3]
She worked as an event manager in London.[3]She founded AvL Backgammon, a boardgame company that makesbackgammonsets.[4]Her company donates a portion of their profits to theInternational Red Cross.[4]
Personal life[edit]
On 25 September 2021, Marie-Astrid married the American businessman Ralph Worthington V,[5]in a Catholic ceremony at the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta inOrbetello,Italy.[6]She wore the 19th-centuryKinskyHoneysuckle tiara for the occasion.[7]Wedding guests includedPrince Christian of HanoverandPrincess Christian of Hanover;Ekaterina, Hereditary Princess of Hanover;Princess Mafalda of Hesse;andPrince LorenzandPrincess Maria Laura of Belgium.[6][3]
Marie-Astrid gave birth to a daughter, Althaea Georgina Worthington, on 1 July 2022.[8]
